Upper School Families,
One of our core values at BBA is Christ-like Love. Each year we involve our upper school students in community service projects to share the love of Christ to others. Although COVID has shut down some of our physical opportunities to leave our campus for service, we are blessed to still serve others. We will conduct this service day on Friday, November 20 from 8:00-11:00 and eat lunch together from 11:00-12:00. All upper school students will be released for Thanksgiving break at 12:00.
Our 6th-8th grade students will be making blankets for orphans who often have nothing of their own when brought into the social services system. ALL 6TH-12TH STUDENTS have been asked to bring $5.00 to help purchase the materials necessary to make these blankets. If your child hasn’t donated toward this, please have them bring the money to their first period teacher.
Freshmen will be helping on our preschool playground by spreading new mulch. Each freshman is asked to bring a yard rake to help. Work gloves may be a good idea too. Some additional campus projects may also be done if time allows during the day.
Sophomores will be helping prepare our baseball/soccer field for spring contests. Each sophomore is asked to bring a yard rake to help. Work gloves may be a good idea too. Some additional campus projects may also be done if time allows during the day.
Juniors and Seniors will be going off campus to partner with Manna Church. They will take part in preparing food boxes for families in need around Cumberland and surrounding counties.
Students do not have to wear regular uniform attire for these various work projects. Please be mindful that all clothing follows the intent of our dress code. Clothing should not be tight or form fitting, no yoga style pants. If shorts are worn, they must follow our regular uniform short length. Shirts must have sleeves. Athletic attire is approved if they follow the guidelines already mentioned. Any graphics or words should be appropriate for our school environment.
Our café will be serving our service day meal this year. We will begin serving this at 11:00. The menu is beef tenderloin, macaroni & cheese, green beans, roll, dessert, and drink for the regular $5.00 menu price. Students can order this through the “hot meal” procedure in “Parent RenWeb.”
I’m excited that our students can participate in these service projects as a physical outreach to our school and the community!
